Welcome to the Swing Into Spring Homepage
This is the official website for the annual Swing Into Spring baseball tournament held in Mesquite, Nevada. This website will hopefully provide all the up to date information you'll need to learn more about the touranment , why it was created, and how to participate.
Getting an early start to the season
After playing at Weber State and then becoming the head coach Dano Jauregui realized the disadvantage many of the teams in the western states had due to the long winters. With many of the teams from Washington, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and Idaho limited to a short preseason schedule Jauregui decided to do something for them. In 2004 Jauregui initially worked with the city of Las Vegas to call his tournament home but due to a limited amount of fields the touranment was moved to Mesquite in 2005. Jauregui was able to work with an outstanding city parks and recreation department and hotel event coordinator that sealed the deal in calling Mesquite the new host city.
The tournament has grown over the years from 4 to 8 and now a full 12 teams that participate from all the western states including California and Arizona. The three day event is an all woodbat tournament that is designed to give each team 4 guaranteed games against opponents they would otherwise never play. The idea of the tournament is not to crown a champ but to get out and play baseball.
